Shelley Kavanagh is a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Art Therapist with 30+ years of experience working with young people challenged by emotional and behavioral dysregulation. She provides clinical consultation to Toronto District School Board schools, The Child and Youth Advocacy Centre and numerous community-based agencies. Shelley works with adolescents, young adults and their family members who have experienced trauma, are engaged in self-harming behaviors, and have difficulties managing intense emotions. She uses multiple modalities to support the development of a strong alliance with her clients. Shelley integrates Dialectical Behavior Therapy, art therapy and mindfulness practices into treatment.
Shelley has leads various community art activism projects , provides clinical supervision to RP’s, is a faculty member at The Toronto Art Therapy Institute and contributing author to the publication ‘DBT-Informed Art Therapy in Practice’.
