Ana Cancian is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. She received her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. Ana has completed extensive training in evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and most prominently Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She has worked in in-patient, out-patient and private practice settings and has also researched and published in peer-reviewed journals addressing DBT, ACT, binge eating and emotion regulation. Ana is experienced in treating adult clients with suicidal ideation, difficulties in regulating emotions and behaviours, trauma, conflicted relationships and major life transitions.
Her approach to psychotherapy is based on validating and normalizing emotions while creating a relationship that builds skills to facilitate change. Ana is fluent in Portuguese and English.
